    TCP != Internet.

    TCP != Internet.

    The concept of the internet could be said to have been thought of by one person first (probably Berners-Lee) but that’s not to say that somebody else would have thought of it anyway.

    Anyway, to say that Kahn and Cerf invented the internet is like saying John Logie Baird invented satellite TV.

    Information surface …
    Information surface expands and what isn’t known directly can be aproximated by inference. There will be no secrets.
    Google might not tell you how many iron mines are in china but Google earth and google business search and information about iron produced in countries that aren’t China will.
    The question of economic success becomes a measure of time between acquisition and utilization information.

    “…I invented the …
    “…I invented the world wide web”

    *Pause for applause that never comes and turns into a horribly awkward silence*

    Am I the only one who noticed that?

    Not to sell the man short on his accomplishments but I found that hilarious.

    linked data has …
    linked data has already happened naturally on the internet, though the questions aspect needs to be explored

  • GuppieLove:

    sounds like there …
    sounds like there is a lot of good to unlock linked data.
    for the information era

    but at the same time leaves us exposed as individuals .

  • greycloud24:

    this is basically a …
    this is basically a cookie counter that can rapidly track key concepts and words. say i am a stalker and i know your name and adress. using this technology i can find out where you work, what school you go too and what color of shoes you bought for prom on ebay. the slope is there waiting for someone to exploit it. furthermore this can be accessed by employers to find your myspace, facebook and other files intended for your friends. it is sad that everything has to be made deliberately private.

  • 1schwererziehbar1:

    so you put all your …
    so you put all your private information out in the open but when someone collects it you start crying? that’s not smart.
    and anyways this idea is not so much about data of private persons but rather about statistical data.

  • tiberux:

    the more linked …
    the more linked data a system can model, the higher entropic character it will have. Nature favours entropy… and information is entropy

    So yes the higher our ability to imilate data (i.e. linked data) the better chance of us having a successful existence… existence/life is data/information imilation in one or another.

  • youyaar:

    Don’t know who …
    Don’t know who invented internet but what he said is one of the secrets of Google.
